……………………………………People's lives, livelihoods and cultures exist in a particular environment. We can logically assume that the environment has an influence on everything mentioned above. Then it is no less logical that similar environments should also lead to a similar way of life. Is that so? And if so, to what extent? Anthropogeos will attempt to answer these questions through a series of projects, the first of which is an online exhibition.

We begin our comparison or let’s say our co-observation with two mountain regions: the Caucasus and the Alps.

We visited the mountains and foothills of the eastern part of the Greater Caucasus (the territory of southern Dagestan and northern Azerbaijan), in Switzerland we passed through nine mountain cantons, mainly in the south of the country.

We have not tried to find similarities in this or that phenomenon in Switzerland and Dagestan. We searched for parallels instead. Somewhere, these parallels developed by themselves, and somewhere, on the contrary, we found evidence that the mentality and habits of people living in geographically similar places can be very different.

We do not draw conclusions or try to highlight differences or similarities. We invite you only to reflection based on contemplation.

The work was carried out in the city of Derbent, and Akhtynsky, Rutulsky, Dokuzparinsky, Kurakhsky, Suleiman-Stalsky (formerly Kasumkentsky), Derbent districts of Dagestan, Qusar, Quba, Qabala (formerly Kutkashensky), Shabran (formerly Divichinsky), Qakh and Zagatala districts of Azerbaijan.
